Good afternoon ‘Tommy Boy’. I’ve been driving from Belmont to Trinity County and back over the last six weeks and have been spending four to five days at a time gardening around my buddy’s house and basically doing the things that will provide protection from wildfires and the airborne ’embers’ they can produce. I’ve also been trying to eradicate some of the Blackberry bushes growing near his house. It can get pretty hot up there this time of year but I can always take a break and go down to the Trinity River that is less than seventy feet from the back door. I have a horticultural question for you. If Blackberry bushes are chopped-up into small pieces with a spade can they be added to my compost pile? I’ll catch you later ‘Tommy Boy”. Later, Scott.
Hey Scott great to hear you are driving and also up in trinity. say hi to all the deer and bears you see. if the pieces are small, the weather is hot, then the pieces will die and compost and rot. if the pieces are big, they are green with energy, and it is moist from either rain wetness, then you stick em in the pile, you may get cuttings to root and have more blackberries. LOL
